Outre les march\u00e9s hebdomadaires, se tenant tous les mercredis depuis le Moyen-Age, Sainte-S\u00e9v\u00e8re-sur-Indre se vit accorder par Fran\u00e7ois Ier, en 1521, le droit d&rsquo;organiser quatre foires par an. La halle fut ainsi l&rsquo;un des\u00a0c\u0153urs \u00e9conomiques du village durant l&rsquo;Ancien R\u00e9gime.<br \/><br \/>La halle manqua plusieurs fois d&rsquo;\u00eatre d\u00e9truite ou ruin\u00e9e. A la veille de la R\u00e9volution, elle \u00e9tait proche de la ruine totale. Des projets ult\u00e9rieurs envisag\u00e8rent \u00e9galement sa destruction.
